Everytime this guys writes one of his columns lecturing us about going green the Times should have a picture of his estate next to the column:

Friedman frequently seems an epic, privileged asshole -- no argument, there.

Doesn't denigrate the basic pro-Green posture, though.

He stinky just be thankful that I start threads that lead to interesting discussions or you would never post since you appear to be devoid of the original thought gene.

Shh, logic plays no role in thread started by Troll_70.

Obviously Friedman does not buy into the green argument as evidence by his estate. Why should he expect everyone else to go green.

Obviously? Really?

You can tell he's not put tons of insulation into his home by that photo? You can tell he's not using tankless water heaters or geo-thermal heating and cooling? You can tell R values of the windows? Or the number of CFL or LED lightbulbs? You can tell whether he recycles or buys carbon offsets?

Boom, what the **** does the size of Friedman's estate have to do with being "green".

Do you even know what it means?

For all anyone knows, Friedman's place is completely self sufficient and leaves less of a carbon footprint than your Hummer.

Those lighbulbs suck, by the way.

I'm just sayin'.

Depends on what they're be used for. We've got a mix of CFL and LED lights. You'd never know unless you looked at the bulbs, instead of the light produced.

You're not alone:

Wait till other shoe drops and we have a bulb disposal problem due to the mercury needed to produce.

He used enough lumber to buld 6 average size houses.

Unless I missed something I cannot find any wind mills or solar panels in the aerial photo.

Surprised that Tom would have black topped his driveway given all the oil black top requires. Seems like he would have been a gravel type guy.

And if you look closely at the photo, you can see he's not abiding by "yellow-mellow, brown-flush it down" either. Fraud.
