If it's true Keith was going to be demoted off the Big 12 beat, it sucks that his editors didn't man up before the buyout so he could make an informed decision. Shows just how slimy that place has gotten. He's a solid reporter and writer and deserved better.

MacMahon had been high-profile on their preps coverage, so his elevation was just a matter of time. But a word to the wise, Tim -- watch your back, because nobody in that shop stays the fair-haired boy (or girl) forever.

You are so right. But Keith is a Dallas guy, so I doubt he leaves. Plus, it's possible to come back after being demoted. Yates was once demoted to a desk guy... and look where he is now.

this is good advice...I know exactly how that "fair-haired" **** works under Yates.

Yates is such a ****...he should step down and take early retirement...but the guy's a coward. DMN would do well to bring back Nels Jensen or promote Jeff Miller. Mike Hashimoto would fit the bill as well, fair people and good managers/motivators. Something Yates sorely missed many moons ago.

Didn't we have a discussion a year ago or so about possible plagiarism and Whitmire's name on an AP story? I know somebody said it was probably a copy editor typing the wrong hot key, but I seem to remember it not being the first time something along those lines had happened.

I don't know Whitmire, so I'm just asking.
