Retired NFL ref and now CBS expert is not having a good year. It seems like every time they go to him when a play is under review he ends up on wrong side of decision.

It's gotten comical.

He hasn't been as good or as polished as Pereira, but he was right on the fumble tonight. Refs blew that one.

Hah CBS not helping, Now they give Carey the wrong video to review.

That whole sequence was so awkward it had me feeling bad for everyone associated with it -- but especially the on-air guys who probably had nothing at all to do with the problem.

I'd like to see Carey or Pereira involved in a game officiated by Ed Hochuli.

Hoculi: Pass interference, No. 31, defense. The defender made contact with the receiver while the ball was in the air and did not turn to face the ball. He committed the infraction inside the end zone and, by rule, the ball will be placed at the 1-yard line. The infraction violated rule 10.2.1 of the NFL Rulebook, which was instated by the competition committee after the 1962 season as the forward pass became more popular. It is also a point of emphasis this season as the NFL tries to ensure higher scoring games to take the spotlight off its particularly poor handling of several off-the-field incidents, including - but not limited to - its response to domestic violence allegations across the league. Automatic first down.

Carey: Uh, yeah. That about covers it.

For whatever reason, since CBS got the NFL back in 1998, whatever they try to mimic off of FOX is never as good. Studio shows. Refs in the booth. James Brown. It's never as good as when it/he is/was on FOX.

Hah that's an interesting observation. Cary has had a horrible start. Pereira has always been solid
both live and via twitter. A must follow on game days.

The truck did Cary no favors last night by replaying the wrong replay- the one that Cary was so off off on in first place. It compounded the problem. It was uncomfortable to watch.

We've all seen replays that clearly show what the correct call should be and the officials still get it wrong, so having this "expert" on hand generally is useless.

Disagree when it comes to Pereira. He has set a tough standard for everyone to follow.

With Carey's track record so far he should wait until ruling has been made and then
comment. I would rather guess for myself on which way it will go and then have the official provide interpretation of rule.

You would lose the high comedy though of Carey's poor judgment so far.

Wasn't it the replay refs who got it wrong?

Carey was made to look stupid even though he was correct.

Dean Blandino tweeted that the refs got it right.

He did it from the Cowboys' party bus.
