Rooney is very good. Also, by all accounts, a very nice guy.

Should still be announcing White Sox games on the radio. Total BS he's not.

What was the deal with that, anyway?
Chicago loses Rooney and Pat Foley in the same year, for no apparent reason.

For Lanny Frattare and Greg Brown, who I enjoy, it's more like a bulldozer. I'd love to hear what they really think about Pirates' management...

about a month ago, Frattere menioned on the air "Try and come out and see this team. They're a good bunch of guys that deserve your support." Know what? I'll bet Big and Rich are a good bunch of guys too. But they're a ****ty band so forget it.

On the post-game show tonight, he called the Dodgers' sweep of the Reds, "The homestand from hell."

I don't care much for Lanny (the above example of homerism is a big reason), and he supposedly is a horse's ass off the air. I was told his side business is to sell his old scorecards. What, being the Pirates' broadcaster for 25-30 years doesn't pay enough?

He didn't have too many complimentary things to say about Jim Bowden the other night, speaking of GMs.
Brennaman HATED Bowden and takes potshots at him whenever possible.
I was lucky enough to listen the night after Bowden was arrested for a DUI. The sarcasm and virtriol was damn near seeping out of my XM, but Brennaman was never direct about it, cutting Bowden to shreds with 1,000 incisions. It was awesome.
Does Brennaman still do NCAA basketball tournament games on Westwood One? He was very good at that too.
