Machete vs. The Expendables

Machete is like a support group for actors put out of work by the end of "Lost" (Lapetus and Michelle Rodriguez). Looks like good, cheesy fun. And how awesome is it that Robert DeNiro, Don Johnson and Cheech Marin all take lower billing than ... Danny ****in' Trejo!?

You don't see too many characters who move back and forth between children's films (Trejo played "Uncle" Machete in the "Spy Kids" series) and R-rated action pictures.

A friend has seen The Expendables and said, "If you're over 30, you will love it as a guilty pleasure, if you're under 30, you'll think it's the worst movie of all-time."

My friend nearly lost when he played Machete vs. his finger. The blade got down to the bone, but his finger still lives!

I can't wait to see both of these. When I first saw the TV trailer for The Expendables, I was pumped. I've been waiting for Machete since it was announced after Grindhouse Rodriguez was planning to do a real movie.

I know a lot of people are pissed about Arnold's alleged cameo. It doesn't bother me too much, but they do have a point.

why are they pissed?

Obviously, he would have figured out that whole budget problem in the hour or two it probably took him to shoot a scene in the movie. You know, like how Obama obviously doesn't care about America because he spends two hours each year picking NCAA tournament games and talking about the NBA with Marv Albert. Politics is serious bidness.

On-topic: I'm psyched for both of these movies, although both will probably be rentals for me.

According to IMDB, Arnold has appeared in two movies since taking office in 2003, and both roles were cameos ("Around The World In 80 Days" in 2004 and "The Expendables"). I don't think anyone can argue Arnold hasn't taken his job very, very seriously and that he hasn't used it as a platform to raise his profile.

That idiot Jesse Ventura, meanwhile, was doing XFL broadcasts while he was Minnesota governor.

"Machete" looks like insane fun. But the downtown must have hit De Niro's interests pretty hard if he's stooping to this level.

Of all those fake Grindhouse trailers, I'm eagerly awaiting "Thanksgiving," which apparently is in development.

Kind of like in "Predator". Ventura turns his back to the issue at hand and WHAM! Invisible rocket blows his guts out.
Arnold, meanwhile, stays focused and defeats the monster.
There's a lesson there, kiddos.

I just read the AP review of The Expendables. They gave it one and a half stars.

Every knock the reviewer had on the movie makes me can't wait to see it that much more.

He talks about "die-hard Guns N Roses fans" ... "being awash with motorcycles, tattoos, black leather and big guns" ... "pretend the last two decades never happened" ... "high body count testosterone-filled action"

HELLLLLL YEAH!

That's me.
I am sure it will suck, but I want to see it anyway.
The only dudes missing from it are Chuck Norris and Steven Segal.
I really, really want to see this movie.
