iTunes drops DRM

Apple also dropped some prices. But the big news is that 80 percent of the store's inventory now comes without DRM encoded into the music, with the rest expected to go DRM-free within a couple of months.

I wouldn't pay it unless I didn't have an iPod. I do, so why would I upgrade?

To move songs onto things that don't have iTunes (my Xbox 360, which won't accept DRM files, for example). Plus between my iPod and laptop, I've gone through two of my five authorized uses. And a new laptop is inevitable in the coming months.

Right. I should have said "if you don't use an iPod." I use only my iPod and my computer, so I'm good.
