I told you I'll give you a blow-by-blow of what's going on.

We have a three-way tie on the D-side: O-man 33 Hill 32 Edwards 32 (33% in)

Over on the R-side: Huck 36 Romney 23 Thompson 14 McCain 12 Paul 11 Rudy 3 (15%)

Just got back from my precinct caucus. It was the quickest caucus I ever sat in. We were done in 30 minutes. Roughly about 100 folks in the grade school gym, including a local weatherman. We had only 6 planks for the platform, a quick vote, selected 4 delegates for the county convention and our asses were out the door quicker than you can "Hunting with **** Cheney." Most of us wanted to get home to watch Fat Boy and the Jayhawks.

Local Fox affiliate just said Huckabee wins with 35%, with Romney coming in at 2nd with 23%. I'm kind of surprised the margin was that big.

Hell no. He wasn't about to get into that **** tonight. Surprised that there wasn't any environmental planks, abortion planks, or what not. Just a few anti-Right to Work planks and that was it.

Huckabee wins Iowa, McCain wins New Hampshire, and it's a two-horse race, unless Florida ****s it up with Rudy.

Obama's win is almost as incredible as Huckabee's.

Man, this **** gives me a boner.

Can someone explain to me why the evangelicals aren't going for Romney? If family values really mean that much to them, Romney is by far the best republican candidate in that department - married to his high school sweetheart for almost 40 years and with a large, Norman Rockwell portrait family. Rudy, McCain and Thompson have all been divorced at least once.

Are they really that hostile toward Mormons?

There are some in our area who are quite hostile toward Mormons. That's part of the reason why Romney stayed away from the area.

NBC called it around 8pm EST that Huck is declared the winnah! It's early, but this is a huge boost for Edwards if he keeps up in the numbers. It may clearly show that the Dems are just as uncertain about who they are hitching their wagons to.

Just watching the Dems over at Merrill Middle School (in the South of Grand affluent neighborhood) and it's controlled chaos, but very well-mannered and respectful.

From the early AP story:

Clinton, Obama and Edwards had all urged voters to consider them if their own candidate fell short. Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio publicly urged his backers to line up with Obama on a second round, and two Democrats said aides to New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson did likewise as the caucuses unfolded. Those two spoke on condition of anonymity, citing private discussions.

Little bit surprised Richardson didn't throw his support behind Hillary.

To add to JB, the Mormons used to live in that area around Burlington IA and Nauvoo, IL circa 1838.  Things were so dicey that the regular folks went after the Mormons and Joseph Smith.  IIRC, Smith was murdered and the Mormons headed west to Utah.  About five years ago, one of the Mormon church houses was refurbished and opened to the public.  Pal of mine said it was jawdropping to see, since it was so historical and huge.  

To answer your question Joe:  yes and no.  Some may have done it to cockblock Hillary.  Some switched because they really respect Obama and like his proposals and that he's geniune in their minds.
