Laptop died on Sunday. A registry error wouldn't let me startup the computer; diagnostic check revealed the drive had died; chkdsk /r wouldn't fix the problem
Tech came and replaced the drive today and did a couple of other things -- 14 days before the warranty expired.
Bought a enclosure for the drive in hopes I could recover data; the drive didnt fail, the registry did.
New drive from Dell, fix some cosmetic stuff, saved all the data (had been 9 months since I backed up files).... sometimes you win.
