...That'd be with a capital "K."
But the king of Morocco just came through my little town, and I joined the bum's rush to watch.
I had nothing better to do because his visit -- the first to Midelt -- had shut down the city all week. All three of my places of employment have shut down, two to house the "bolice" and one for some other royal reason for which I'm a bit unclear (I got chased off by angry-looking military men, and my Arabic isn't that great just yet.)
I must admit, it was kind of cool. He came through at 5:30 p.m., but there were throngs of people lined up by 10 a.m.
It's a big smile and wave thing. He comes through, standing up in a limo and waving. The state-run media had two cameramen that I saw, one in a car and one on a motorcycle, which seemed a bit risky.
It's super windy and chilly, so I'm thinking he'll have a sore throat tomorrow. That's got to be a bit strange, standing up in a car and waving. Wonder if he gets to sit between cities.
In another world, I'd be covering the Stanley Cup playoffs. But now, I'm standing three deep in Moroccans, watching the king. What a world.
