I know there's plenty of burger threads on this board, but most are about restaurant burgers.

This is a thread where you can share your homeade recipes. I posed the question on my facebook page and have had a couple good responses, so I figured I'd bring it here to the masses.

So....how do you build a better burger on your home grill?

1. Make 'em at least 6 ounces
2. Use the 80 percent - no need for super-lean ****. It's a burger, damnit!
3. Get the coals hot as can be or turn up the gas to incenerator.
4. Don't mash. I repeat: DO NOT SQUISH THE BURGERS WITH YOUR METAL SPATULA.
5. Add cheese at the very end, either after you've closed the vents or turned off the gas.
6. DON'T MASH 'EM!!
7. A little Honey Brown beer doesn't hurt
8. Then you can drink the rest.
9. Make sure you have whiskey on hand.

I drench mine with Worcestershire and then sprinkle Lowery's seasoned salt on it, grill it, then add a slice of cheese.

I'm going to catch hell from my sisterhood for this, but I don't grill. It's a man's job.

Try adding a little Ranch rub before you put them on the grill - makes for an interesting (and very good) burger.

2 tsp sweet paprika
2 tsp dried thyme
1-1.5 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
.5 tsp ground black pepper
.5 tsp ground red pepper
.5 tsp ground white pepper

So many jokes... each of which would have Flash, SC, Sxy, Cadet and the other ladies hunt me down and cut off my balls. So I won't.

Big burgers, a little salt, a little pepper and none of that Dale's or anything.

This is the most important part. 90 percent or higher is too lean for grilling. Your burgers will come out much drier with low-fat meat.

IJAG could do so with her bare hands.

I like the homemade Jucy Lucy.

Worcestershire and Lawry's and cracked black pepper, then patty them up as thin as you can get them.

Slice an onion very thin in rings and fry it in butter. Cut up some flat hunks of either Velveeta or cheap cheddar cheese, but stuff that melts well.

Take a patty, put a hunk of cheese and some fried onions on it, then put another patty on top. Repatty, again, as thin as you can get it.

Grill, and when you think it's done, throw it on the top rack for a few more minutes. Last step is key: Let sit for a few more minutes before you eat it, unless you enjoy mouth burns.

Enjoy.

however, there's cooking them like my grandmother did.
Add two heaping tablespoons of moisture per pound. use things with a thicker consistency such as mustard, ketchup or BBQ sauce (mayo doesn't work). You can add a dash of soy sauce or worcershire sauce but no more than that. mix well into the burger meat before you make patties.
It allows you to cook on the grill a little longer and keeps moisture and seasoning into the meat.
I also chop onions and add to the mix when grilling and have also used crumbled blue cheese within the patty for more flavor.

I like lemonade, too. Homeade Lemonade is wonderful. My aid makes it for us.

1 package of ground turkey (lean ground beef is OK, but turkey is healthier and has a different taste, something to change things up)
1 taco seasoning packet (mild for sissies, hot to put some hair on your chest)

Smush together, form 4 patties, grill.
Top with pepper jack cheese
Toast the buns, put some chipotle mayo on it.
:P

Put the ground meat in a mixing bowl, dump some worcester sauce, some Frank's Red Hot, and grilling rub in on the meat. Mix really good with your hands, and there you go. One trick I just learned: Make an indentation in the middle of each raw burger, or scoop out a small portion with a spoon, so when you put it on the grill, it doesn't ball up, the burger will keep its shape.
