I haven't minded Buc-ee's the few times I've gone in there, mainly because if it's chock-full I'll do an about-face at the front door like I did one Christmas weekend in Madisonville. (IYKYK). I paid at the pump and went on my merry way.

When it's less busy, yes it's schlocky but they have some good things. Their restrooms are spotless, but I expect that from everywhere and note where they're not.

What I do hate about them is their heavy-handed litigiousness. They'll file a lawsuit on a smaller competitor at the drop of a tail, no matter how sketchy or borderline worthy. Usually the defendant has no financial choice but to bail. Sounds familiar?

The one near me is pretty easy to get in an out of. You'll probably wait at the light getting in, but out is right on red. I almost never go inside, maybe once in a while I'll get a breakfast burrito or biscuit. The brisket is decently edible but nothing special, and it has gotten to the point that it's outright expensive.

Buc-ees and Costco are the cheapest gas around here and the nearest Costco is twenty minutes away, so, shrug.

I used to frequent them on all my trips because of the sparkling toilets (numerous, too) and the variety of snacks available. They were also great for when we had a busload of people who needed a break. No semis allowed, which is nice. Since Covid I haven't been in one, because I don't drive anywhere anymore. We have one a few miles from my house, but I haven't been in that one, either, of late.

Were there a Buc-ee's "Passport", mine would be full. I have visited almost every one of them in my state, including the original mega-site in Luling and the original original in Lake Jackson.

Been a couple of times to the one in Adairsville/Calhoun, a little more than an hour above Atlanta on 75.

Never had any issues other than weaving through the crowds. Makes for a good stop to stock up on goodies when going to the drive-in theater in the mountains.

Thought that famed brisket was overrated, but maybe I just got a bad cut of it.
