Sports Journalists Forum – Media, Newsroom & Reporting Talk

Help Support Sports Journalists Forum:

Facebook has come out several times and said it will always be free. I think they even have that on the site.

That being the case, I'll stick with FB. I'll probably poke around with google +. I wouldn't want to start that process over unless I had a compelling reason to do so.

It's fantastic. The live-chat is outstanding and can be used greatly in a news capacity.

Big fan.

They just announced some changes coming that should fix most of the issues I've had with it so far and make it more or less a perfect substitute for Facebook and Twitter. If you're a social media guy at all, you need to check it out.

Meh. It's whatever. I'm already bored with it. I don't think I've checked it once today where in comparison I checked twitter about 50 times.

You can add your Twitter feed onto your Google+ homepage... I think I'm gonna ditch Facebook and stay on Google+ as I'm tired of all the Facebook spam, the horrible privacy settings, and the incessant need for people to post baby pictures every day. On to the next fad. I've been on Google+ for almost a week and it's cleaner and part of my whole Google toolbar, and the Android app beats the hell out of the Facebook app.

It's cleaner...because there are fewer people on it. As soon as it gets big, it will start with the junk all over again. I still don't see the difference.

I don't see the reason for it. It's facebook. The circles thing is not a new concept...you can make groups in facebook. I just don't see a difference at this point.
To be fair, circles are completely different than groups. Circles are a way of privatizing certain information you post (people in circle x can see this photo, while people in circle y can't).

I like it so far, will probably use it like a tumblr. If you need an invite, PM me.

OK, this gave me a good chuckle today (Google+ Circles):
