I wore spikes a couple of times when I was walking the course with a group but I felt too embarrassed making so much racket on the concrete floor of the press tent whenever I came in from the course. Switched to my Chuck Taylors and did it right after that.

We had a news reporter wear high heels when writing a news-related story from a PGA Tour event in our backyard a few years back. The players had been complaining about the quality of the greens all week long, and we wrote a lot about it. Then she shows up in spiked heels and starts gouging the green at the signature hole during the trophy presentation.

Our photo chief goes over to her, tells her to get those ****ing shoes off NOW. I'm not sure she ever knew what she did wrong.
