She's not suing for loss of wages or damage to her career, she's suing because she suffered public humiliation and embarrassment from the mass distribution of those naked videos, due to a) the hotel's negligence and b) the direct actions of the peeper. You guys are right. I was lazy and thinking that she sued for defamation, which requires a showing of some damage to your reputation. Sorry. There was an invasion of privacy and as a tort (in California) you get to recover emotional distress damages.

As much as it's become a staple of journalism, the use of "gate" as a suffix to the scandal du jour has been hackneyed since the mid-'70s, so you have a point there. It should be abolished.

Someone spied on her in a hotel room through a ****ing peephole. Nobody knew who filmed it until time went on. When some Patriots film guys spied on the Jets with video cameras it was called "Spygate." And yes, there were boobs as well.
