The idea that fantasy sports and betting on horses are "games of skill," while betting against the spread or any other form of sports gambling is considered a "game of chance," is one of the dumbest attempts at rationalization there is.

The reality is, all these fantasy sites lobbied for this ****--bought and paid for. And I believe both big daily fantasy companies are partly owned by one or more professional leagues.

What this country, and individual states, consider legal and illegal gambling is so ****ing arbitrary. Oh, I can drop as much cash as I want on lottery tickets, but can't play a hand of blackjack? Both are gambling, but you actually have a chance to win a hand of blackjack.

All of which should and does keep him out of the Hall of Fame. My argument is that baseball executives shouldn't be getting in bed with gambling either (and for that matter shouldn't play footsie with Rose every few years by dragging him out for All-Star games, World Series ceremonies, etc.) It's a bad look for everyone.

I can see that, though it doesn't bother me nearly as much as it bothers you and others. But to say that it makes MLB's case against Rose a sham is ridiculous. There is a huge difference between what Rose did and what MLB is doing.

Thursday, they were analyzing fantasy picks for daily games for PRESEASON NFL games! If I had some extra money, I'd give one of these sites a shot, but it has to be stressful if you ever have a decent amount of money on the line. And people actually play these games for a living. I could not imagine.

If you haven't turned on your tv for sports lately, get ready. There are ads and commercials for Draft Kings everywhere. I'm already sick of the guy in the throwback Brady jersey who won a million dollars.

If it makes you feel better, his winnings were deflated by about 40 percent.

I badly wanted to get Ryan Braun in there, and still might, once I check in at lunch on some of the recommendations by the experts for the night. For now, I thought $4,100 was too steep and I didn't have a lot of slack elsewhere in the lineup to sacrifice for it. Granderson is a poor man's Braun tonight, looking at the matchups.

I'm really interested in how Hicks does. He destroys LHP, and he's batting in a hitter's paradise.

I'm sure that they routinely screw people out of the thousands of dollars that people put into it. That would never come out.

Would like to see a study showing the results of people who pore over it for an hour vs. those who just throw up a lineup in seconds. I'm not saying random, just quickly pick your guys and be done with it.

If one hour is better than five seconds (or the minimum amount of time it would take to input the players) them two hours would be better than one, three hours better than two, etc. There has to be a spot where there is no extra advantage gained from time spent.

Of course. That's the law of diminishing returns, and it applies to pretty much any field, not just daily fantasy baseball. It applies to real baseball. It applies to Wall Street. It applies to your 10th grade algebra test.
