Maybe this is too "Inside Baseball,'' but here goes.

David Moore covers the NBA for the Dallas Morning News. Earlier this week, the DMN had a Front Page centerpiece on the 6 potential No. 1 Draft picks. The package was penned by Mike Heika, the DMN's NHL writer (and a damn fine one).
In Wednesday's DMN on Page 3, the paper had numerous draft stories, etc. One of the items was a mock 1st round draft _ my Mark Heisler of the LA Times.

Anyone find any of this kinda strange? Is Moore "over time" from NBA playoffs and too busy? Is he too much a columnist to do the draft grunt work? Is it kinda cheesy for a paper with the rep of the DMN to use a mock draft from another paper? If your own staff can't produce a mock draft, should you just not run a mock draft?

Fire away.

Do you live in the metro area, or was this a regional paper you got (or a Web site)? If either of the latter, maybe his work just didn't make it in time for the metro. Of course, with all the cuts at the DMN, maybe he got his pink slip.

Or he piled up so much OT during the Finals that they told him to leave the office for a few weeks on comp time.
