Dish Network or DirecTV?

OK, I fired Xfinity because it was just too damn expensive but I'm getting WiFi through them for $40 a month. But the Fire Stick ain't doing it for me so I want to get a dish. Been a while since I had DirecTV. I'm looking at that and Dish Network. Any suggestions as to which is better? I just want the basic cable stations and local stations. Thanks in advance.

It's been years since I've had either but I distinctly remember that with DirecTV I could get a customer service rep from the U.S. on the phone, not so much with Dish.

Dish was great for 20 yrs, reliable, increases not too bad! But went to DirectTV when Dish lost the regional sports channel. Happy with Direct but wish I was still with Dish.

I’m with QT. Dish has been great but I can’t watch local teams.

And they always seem to be getting into fights with networks so that channel goes off the air. Happened to ESPN this last season.

I'm nearing the end of a two-year introductory offer with Xfinity. $150/month for a mid-tier cable package and 920 mbps internet.

Scared to see what the price will be in July. Had DirecTV for 22 years. Never liked losing the picture under heavy cloud cover. It was about $150/month for just TV (and no premium channels). I tried to get the least-expensive package they had that still included Tennis Channel, but it happened to be the next-to-highest one. Probably still would be with them if we hadn't moved. But canceling was an absolute nightmare.

Along with the late, lamented Playstation Vue, YouTubeTV is the best service I've had. Only drawback is they don't care the Bally Sports channels, wait, is that really a drawback?

I have our fairly new city run internet and TV (glad I am not alone in still getting TV). It is mildly less expensive than Xfinity, but internet is faster and hasn't gone out once in almost a year of having it. Can't say the same about my previous experience with Comcast.

The new service has already raised their prices twice since I've had it, though, which has closed the cost gap significantly. But they have all our regional sports channels, which I practically watch the most, and the whole the internet is faster and hasn't gone out thing. Anyway, long story longer, I really wish I could go YouTubeTV or Hulu Live, because they have everything I want outside of the regional sports, but I need those regional sports for some reason.

Once the regional sports system totally collapses I'll have my chance!

AT&T internet has been damn near bulletproof over the last year after I moved. I have YouTube TV still but this weekend the account goes on pause until the end of August and college football season. Stupid easy compared to cable or satellite.

Give me that and free Pluto, and I don't need much else. And I do have the Philly and Washington regional networks with it.

I had some people weigh in for YouTube. I got Dish for $93 and the price is locked in for three years.

YouTube lost MLB.tv, which means you cannot get the MLB package. In my area it doesn't have one of the RSN's and there is no indication that it is trying to get it. Also, it doesn't have A&E and a few other basic cable staples. Oh, it raises rates about every 9 months. Otherwise it is great.

It will have The Sunday Ticket and is great for storing shows and watching on mobile.

Its interface sucks, at least on my TV setup.

I was a DirecTV P1 for more than a decade, but their price hikes got to be too rich for me. I went out of town on an extended job and canceled it, and just never got it back. I can see whatever I want to see through an HDMI cable from my laptop to my widescreen TV, and I have OTA for local stuff. But DirecTV is a good service if you want to pay a premium for it.

I do Direct TV for the DVR. Dish has the better DVR for what it is worth.
