This is a good article on the 39th anniversary of Chuck Hughes' death on the field, which is today. The author makes some good points, including the comparison with how this was covered then and how it might be covered today.
 
I was there.
I remember getting excited because My dad and I were doing a two-fer that day -- the Lions in the afternoon against the Bears and the Wings against Montreal that night at Olympia.
I remember him dropping and I remember Butkus waving for people to come over... I kept asking my dad if he was alright and he kept telling me he'll be fine. We went to Carl's Chop House for dinner and then to Olympia, where they had a moment of silence before the game.
I had just turned 10 by a couple of weeks, I didn't quite understand death; I sure didn't understand it on the field. Not sure I do now.
 
Who can say that?
Great memories with your dad, for sure.

Ummm, good article but Moddy? Do you guys always tinker with photos? The top pic has reversed directions, as evidenced by the backward "L" on the doctor's jacket.
