Canada gets a No Call List

Does that mean I can't call you any more?

Kind of burying the "Canada now has telephones" lede, aren't you? :D

I saw in a story somewhere that signing up to this list only blocks them from calling you for three years.

Since I don't get these sort of calls on my VOIP line right now, I expect that there will be a lot of people signing up today who will be mighty pissed in three years when their opt-out expires. Since the lists are downloaded by the telemarketing companies, I expect you'd get a boatload of calls when three years is up and suddenly all of the companies - ones you never had calls from before - have your number.

Oh, and we are polite. I actually telemarketed for NHL Oldtimers games back in my college days. Good coin. Interesting job. I considered it training for all the reader complaints I deal with today.

Wow. Took them long enough.

And they say we're not progressive...

Yeah, a DNC list should have been our priority for the last few years. By the way, how's the economy thing going? ;)

I put my mother's number on the list. If we ever start talking again, it will give her one less thing to talk about. :D

Canada has polite telemarketers.

I mean, why not? They have polite everything else. :D

You've never been to a Junior C playoff game in west-central Ontario, have you? ;)
