When I say something to Fenian, and most of the time, when he says something to me, it's directly related to the topic. Again, look very carefully at the rest. Nothing but name-calling and very little contributed to the topic, or any topic, other than personal insults.

Me? I don't care. It doesn't bother me one bit or I'd leave. But let's shed the hypocrisy here and be honest with ourselves about the issue of name-calling and childish insults.

How is a troll someone who posts a particular remark on a particular topic?

Is being a troll any worse than being an immature name-calling brat who doesn't add to the issue (liberal/conservative, etc.), and just wants to throw out personal insults, "he's picking on me" or whatever other daycare-style response?

So what's worse - a troll or the response to a troll?

I don't come in on a thread and name-call for the sake of name-calling. Whether you agree with my conservative argument or not, think it's stupid or whatever, the idea is stupid, not the person. I don't come in and do that unless it's a reaction and then at worse, it's only the butt-buddy **** of people who are simply coming in and attacking to suck up to someone else.

Threads like this make me glad I'm Catholic. Yeah, we've got our problems. Major, major, major problems, obviously. Well-documented - through no cooperation of our own.

HOWEVER!

For the most part, the church doesn't look at science as a threat, and it's open to fresh interpretations of the Bible, particularly the Old Testament. In this way, its lessons remain relevant.

I'm sure Catholicism is far from the only denomination that has acknowledged Genesis, etc., as allegory. But it's the one I'm familiar with.

There's a reason, after all, that the Catholic church has Georgetown, Notre Dame and Boston College, while fundamentalists have places like Bob Jones and Liberty University.

Anti-intellectualism serves no one.
