This is such an obscure thread to drag up, but the title was exactly what I was looking for in my search for "blogs". Anyway, LA Times book reviewer Richard Schickel takes blogs out behind the woodshed and swings his switch lustily and emphatically. It has nothing to do with sports, but he makes some great points (like speech vs. writing) and it is absolutely fantastic:

Yeah, now I don't even know why I posted that. This is going to seem like stupid backpedaling, but as always, it seems something between the base and the highbrow works best, and there's room for a lot of people (print or not) there. If I had actually created this thread, I'd delete the ******* thread....now.
