Dropping off a vehicle for state inspection, caught a patch and beat the hell out of my ankle. The surgeon who did the emergency surgery three hours later said it was the worst break he has seen in 20 years.

I might be able to play basketball again, but golf should not be a problem.

T-minus six to eight weeks until I will be able to walk again. Until then, it's the bed.

This sucks, but it could have been so much worse. What bothers me the most is that I cannot get on the floor with my daughter to play for a little while.

Just a side note, for those of you thinking of moving into another profession, I will not miss one dollar of pay since I have built up so much sick leave. The school system is not so bad.

I also have the best wife in the world.

Yikes. We don't even have ice up in Connecticut right now.

Heal up, 93D. Glad it wasn't worse.

Aw, jeez. Sorry to hear that, Devil. Heal quickly and well.

It was a sunny day, too. The ice was in the shade.

Hey, it really makes me appreciate the time I spend with Lil 93 and the great woman I married.

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that. Did your car ever get inspected? :P

Yes, it passed!

I was laying in water and ice and told my wife to be sure the damn key got dropped off. Something was getting accomplished.

Is your ankle OK?

Anyway, this sucks. I guess you will become an expert on college basketball, because it will be about the only thing for the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Get better.

I see the doc again a week from tomorrow, but we chatted the day after he cut me up. He said the surgury seemed successful and that once the cast is off, I should be walking right away.

Thank God he was able to operate that afternoon. He almost did not have a rod long enough to do the surgery. I think I busted up about eight inches of that bone.

Do you have any extra pills? For my friend.

I have 80, count em, 80 Oxycodones next to me right now. It's the generic for Percocet so the bottle says.

I use them to sleep. I really hope I don't use all of them.

Have I told you recently how much I admire your dedication to your family? It would be so sad for you to be out of it when Lil' 93 wants to play... Let me take some of those off your hands for you...

TTIWWOP!!!

That sucks, especially about the basketball career ending. Hopefully those pills work good & you can enjoy the time off, at least as much as possible.

Damn, Devil, sorry to hear that.

Dumbbells next to the couch will help you keep the upper body in shape. Or, just lift 12 ounces at a time with a sixpack of beer every afternoon..

93 sorry about your injury. Have you taken a look at some of the ads popping up on this tread. They are alll about healing ankle pain.

Sorry about that, 93D, though it sounds as if things will be OK down the road.

A fib fracture off a patch of black ice? Did your body take a strange turn while your foot slipped forward? Just seems strange. Again, that stinks.

Take care ...
