So says longtime friend and NJ.com Devils beat writer Randy Miller:

(I'm going to break from SportsJournalists.com style and refrain from "RIP" given the child-sex allegations that ended Conlin's career).

Somehow I doubt there is going to be any great outpouring of sadness, because:

1) Conlin failed to credibly mount the only effective response to the child-sex allegations, an emphatic declaration of "I. Did. Not. Do. It." Once the perp starts hemming and hawing and explaining and qualifying on that stuff, the game is over.

2) He had a pretty pissy and disagreeable persona otherwise. Not too many people are going to be rushing to his defense based on what a warm and friendly guy he was.

**** him, and **** Drip or anyone else who has anything good to say about him.

Boy, quite a different tone on this thread than when Bob Jelenick died five years ago. Has enough time elapsed for someone to rip him on that thread?

I don't think there were any child sex allegations against Jelenic, although he certainly loved to ass**** his adult employees so nothing would really surprise me.

Please keep my name out of your posts. RIP Bill Conlin.

RIP Bill Conlin.

And, there you go.

Predictable as ever. Drip wishes peace on a child molester.
YF, this is someone I, a few others along here, had a personal relationship with.

It's not for me to speak to the issue of whether his death brings peace to him or anyone else.

Within the very narrow context of the dealings I had with Bill, I am sad to hear of his passing. He was very kind to me in a moment when he did not have to be, that's all I can tell you.

I believe I can feel that way without it being an endorsement of anything he did outside the very narrow context of the dealings I had with him. If you want to tell me to **** myself over that, you're not the first nor will you be the last.

Congratulations.

You had a personal relationship with a child molester. **** him.

Well, if Law & Order: SVU has taught me one thing, it's that predators don't stop on their own. They are most often stopped by someone else. I am not in any way doubting the victims from the 1970s but I am surprised a lot more later victims didn't come forward.
