Which do you prefer? I’m guessing it’s gonna be an avalanche for brewski. As a smaller fellow beer has always been too filling.

My favs are either a martini, mojito, or something mixed with fresh fruit.

One more category? wine? I have come to the conclusion that I am done drinking wine. I love dark or fruity beer. I do feel there is a world of cocktails (my vote) out there just waiting to be mixed. I wish I had one of those basement bars with all the fixins. I do like to order a whiskey sour when i go out. I don't like something too fruity in a cocktail.
I also don't drink as much as I use too, honestly I don't want the hangover. (cure for that...3 aspirin and drink as much water as you drank of alcohol)

Too many variables. Who's buying? Am I with coworkers and if so are they the ones I really like or just tolerate? Did I just get done playing golf? Am I at a craps table, and if so what time?

OK, generally I'll take a draft beer.

I’ve never found a go-to cocktail. Also in my younger days the hard stuff put me into the danger zone in a hurry and that wasn’t good for anyone.

Except in social situations where maybe someone is making a round of margaritas, it's always going to be beer if I go out or if someone simply asks what I want and they list options.

For one thing, there are so many types of beers, I often just like seeing what I haven't tried before. Plus hard alcohol hits me weirdly if it isn't cut with something significantly so I tend to shy away from cocktails

I'm with Playthrough. Too many variables in situations to just pick one. Wine's best with most food, although beer is way better for some meals. When I'm out to eat I'll generally have a cocktail before. Gin and tonic in summer, margarita if it's Mexican food, scotch rocks or every so often, a martini in winter. It is far too hot and humid to drink anything without ice in it here today, so we're mint iced tea for lunch and dinner drinks.

Have switched to having light beer/seltzers during the day with a whiskey on the rocks nightcap once I get home. The rocks water down the whiskey, which at that point of most evenings, is a good thing. I'll mix in the occasional tequila shot as well.

I drink very rarely, but when I do a margarita, if available, is always my first choice. I'm not big beer fan, but I'll have one if that's what's being offered. If it's a microbrewery, I'll search out an exotic kind of brew just for the hell of it.

At my annual physical a few years ago:
"Do you smoke?"
"No."
"Drug use?"
"Never."
"Alcohol?"
chuckle "Oh, yeah."
"Is there a problem?"
"Nope, just like beer."

my stomach can't handle anything sweet, so anything mixed with juice or soda is a no go. For me, couple whiskeys on ice is a nice treat at the end of a HS Football Friday or College Football Saturday before shifting to beer.

Red wine by 10 lengths. Then cocktails (especially if I am making them). Beer only when it is hot out or at a game.

My cocktails:
The occasional Dark 'n Stormy
The even more rare margarita
Christmas morning family tradition of Bloody Marys*

You know that anything and soda, is soda water, right? Just, fizzy water? Not, like rum and coke?

I think of all the mainstream vices I could go the rest of my life never tasting beer again and not regret it.
