The Baytown Sun Newspaper, Baytown Texas located 35 minutes southeast of Houston, Texas. Sports Writer needed for local newspaper print edition and web edition. Must be experienced in sports writing, page layout (Quark preferred) and some photography. Coverage area includes Baytown, Crosby, Barbers Hill, Anahuac, and Dayton. I never really knew Texas was a high cost-of-living state. There's no income tax there.

Perhaps Newspaperman was not referring to cost of living, but to quality of living.

Texas is very affordable in every sense. That being said, Baytown is an absolute pit. I know nothing about the job, though.

Baytown is a refinery town, smell and all. Close enough to Houston that you won't feel isolated, although I wouldn't expect Houston pro sports to be part of this job. If you want to see a pro game, expect it to be on your own time and dime.

The NHRA rolls into Baytown each year. It's one of the quickest quarter-mile strips on the circuit.

Interviewed with these folks several years ago and didn't get the common courtesy of a tour around the stinky town - or a reach-around. Wasn't impressed but maybe things have changed. They do host the bayou bowl - which pits all stars from Texas against a Louisiana all star team.
