After believing for most of my life I would avoid the balding gene that has affected every man on my father's side of the family (a side whose surname, ironically enough, means "one with the curly hair" in Italian), I realize I can't hide. It's coming out.

Should I try Rogaine or just let it go and by some really cool hats?

Everyone looks good in a beret.

I keep thinning and thinning. Receding hair line really is a *****.

Why not at least try Rogaine? Screw nature. Let chemistry kick its ass!

Just no comb-overs. Best thing to do when it starts to get really thin up top is to go short with what's left or shave it all.

Rogaine reportedly doesn't work for the front of your scalp -- and the second you go off it, the hair loss resumes.

Nowhere near that bad, just the spot over my clavicle in between my man teets. I don't understand it and I wish it would go away.

Not sure about the first part, but I would expect the second part to be true.

Just shave it all off.

To quote Det. Green from L&O: "White guys shouldn't shave their heads." I agree. Maybe I'll go the Ed Harris route.

As long as you have the right head shape that's the way to go. But what do I know? Last year at this time my hair was past my chin.

Yes, crop it real close.

Obviously different women will have different thoughts on the matter, but it seems to me that if we're sexy in other ways, the ladies won't care too much if we're bald, or balding. Yul Brynner and Patrick Stewart are among the bald dudes who have melted panties throughout the years. I'd say worry about things more within one's control, like avoiding beer gut and keeping the ol' phallus spry.

Get a haircut, hippie!

I did. Sometimes I regret it, other times I'm happy that I don't wake up choking on it.

Buzz it. Grow a beard. Keep it the same length as your very short hair.

Very hot.

Very good thoughts, irish. My wife has been telling me to stop fretting about it, even encouraging me to work on my Patrick Stewart impression (All I've got right now is "No. 1, go take a No. 2.") Sean Connery's also bald. Maybe I should develop an intense hatred for Alex Trebek.

Or become James Bond.
