Hope this isn't a DB. Jim Cnockaert pleads not guilty to child pornography charges.

I'm just wondering how Jim got a job in Virginia after being canned from Bozeman.

Don't know the guy at all, but if you read this thread I'm sure you can figure out how he was hired so quickly:

http://www.sportsjournalists.com/forum/threads/56924/

Also, the article said he admitted to viewing pornography, not child porn at work. So, my guess is the Virginia paper didn't know why he had been fired from Bozeman, just that he had been fired.

I hope this doesn't hurt some of the kick ass, hard working people I know there.

Yikes. The Bristol paper sure has been through a lot of drama the last couple years.

Wasn't he also fired from Ann Arbor right in the middle of football season (when he was the Michigan football beat writer)?

I don't understand your post?
Why are you saying he would have been hired so quickly? Bristol sounds like a good job, from reading that thread.

If you follow the link to the previous thread, Bristol had a guy lined up to take the SE job and he backed out literally the night before his start date. So with a NASCAR race and football season upon them, they were in scrambling mode and probably didn't do their due diligence before they hired Cnockaert.

I think he meant that Bristol had waited a LONG time to fill that job and couldn't wait any longer, so they made the hire. I could be wrong, but I think that's what he meant.

Yes.

What's his status in Bristol now? Anyone know?

I checked their website last night and he was listed as SE.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. That'd be a shame if Bristol has to open the search again.

Yes.

And it was rumored to be for the same thing.

The Ann Arbor News' website had a story on this today. The story said he left the AA News, but as people posted earlier, that's not completely true.

The link also has a quote from the Bristol ME, saying Jim is an employee in good standing.

I really don't understand why a majority of the posters on this thread would want to delve into this. Doesn't seem like anyone's business except for the principals.

I'm not going to delve into it as far as somebody's guilt, but if a paper has to run a story about the SE facing child pornography charges, I'd think that warrants a thread on this message board.

It's got to be pretty embarassing to run a story in your paper about your SE facing child pornography charges. I wonder how people in the community feel about somebody facing those charges covering their kids? The quote from the attorney in the story also doesn't sound good; sounds like he's talking a lot of legal mumbo-jumbo and not talking about the client's innocence.

I bet the community isn't thinking too highly of the BHC right about now.
