I don't really know where to start, except to refer you to the boxscore of today's NCAA Division III baseball game:

MM, that bottom sig almost made me tear up right here at the desk.

Cuteness: the ultimate in passive-agressive weapons. Particularly when mixed with internet geek speak.

At what point did Newbury pitchers No. 2 and 3 begin taking long, agonized glances at the bench between pitches?

The 13-run first really set the tone for the rest of the game...

Seriously, what on earth do you do? You don't want to wear the pitcher's arm out or have him be beaten into a Solomon Torres-esque mental case, but you can't burn everyone else out on a game they can't win, when you've still got other games left in the season (and the week, probably).

Scary thought: Bridgewater State went in at 7-6. It wasn't like they were playing Florida State.

I sincerely hope Newbury's coach took all the players out to Pizza Hut afterwards...

Yeah, that hit me right away. Just how bad IS this other team?

Newbury lost its first two games in a Friday doubleheader to Maine-Presque Isle ... 5-1 and 5-3.

Would love to read the Newbury gamer.

Brian Fish was the star of the day for Newbury as he limited Bridgewater State to five runs in one inning of work.

The two Newberry pitchers (#3 and #4) who gave up 20 and 22 runs respectively are the ones looking at each other like "who's next to get shelled?"

Well, if I'm the Newbury coach, I emphasize the positive. "Boys, you scored a run. And you only committed five errors. Let's build off of that. Baby steps."

imagine covering that game for the Newbury paper?

"Coach ... umm ... could you sense the game was slipping away a little when Jamison gave up those 22 runs?"

The big words on the Newberry College website: "We Bring Out The Best In You!" Yeah, if you're wearing the other team's uniform. Then I realized that Newberry and Newbury aren't the same words. So I pressed on.

Two painful pitching lines:
IP H R ER BB SO
Jamison Torres ............ 2.0 16 22 19 5 3
Homas Mathew .............. 2.0 15 20 11 8 2

It's pretty bad when 14 players from one team EACH outscore the other team.
