This is sort of a spinoff of the "If The Higher Religious Entity" thread...

I grew up in an uberCatholic household. My mom had crosses hanging in every room of the house. She and my dad dragged us to Mass every Sunday; they had me serve as an alter boy and enrolled me in Catholic schools.

While talking to a friend today, I finally realized something. Or maybe finally came to grips with the fact that I don't believe and that I never believed.

I was chatting with a friend and it just dawned on me that I didn't believe. I realized that I had wasted time going to Mass because I went through the motions. Stand up. Sit down. Kneel. Rinse, wash and repeat every Sunday.

I thought I would be sad or angry. I wasn't. I felt nothing.

So HB, would you describe yourself as an atheist? Agnostic? Deist but not Christian? Christian but not Catholic?

There were worse places to be than in church. Don't fret. You may have the rest of your life to realize the mistake you're making now.
Or, the next 10 seconds.

Didn't believe in God or in Catholicism?

HB, been there, done that. Have since realized it is OK to believe in the HRE, without believing in organized religion, which is bunk.

I never should have given you that book. ;)
Ha. I don't think it was the book. I think I never believed, but I just now came to the understanding that I don't believe.

Welcome to the Matrix, HB. Don't be afraid of the blue pill; it goes well with wine. Enjoy the veal.

Thanks. The veal and wine are marvelous, as is the waitress...:)

I am not sure how I would describe myself.

I think there is A Higher Religous Entity. I am not sure, though, if He/She/It is God or Allah or Buddah or whom-or-whatever. I am sure, though, that I never believed in Catholicism.

Oh, Higher Religious Entinty. Sorry, I'm a bit slow this afternoon. I was thinking "Ho, Ready to Eat." Sounded yucky.
