Colbert's Super PAC releases its financials. Brought in more than $1,000,000.

Colbert has been nothing short of brilliant with this Super PAC stuff. I've long been a fan, but from the Parry campaign to the Mitt serial killer ad to the Cain/Colbert campaign all the way to tonight's fight with Jon Stewart for control of the money ... it just all almost leaves me speechless. It's hilarious and it's the most effective, maybe even important, mockery I can remember seeing anywhere about anything.

in looking through old Colbert threads prior to posting this, I read someone mocking the idea of Colbert as a "hero." Maybe hero is a strong word, but maybe not. I admire the hell out of his creativity, his wit and his effectiveness.

I also love that one of the people who contributed was Josh Lyman. Guess Santos is retiring.

Charles McGrath's outstanding Colbert profile in The New York Times Magazine focused on the PAC. It sounds like he might actually do something with it, like it might not all be one high-wire joke.
