Help Support Sports Journalists Forum:

Interesting week.

1. Jordin -- she was fantastic.
2. Melinda -- didn't like the song but she sang it very well.
3. Phil -- That was really good. I was pleasantly surprised.
4. Blake -- I thought it was one of his weaker performances, but still pretty decent.
5. Lakisha -- Not a great song choice, so-so performance... but light years above my last two.
6. Chris -- Again, he has no range, his little voice-cracking tic is annoying as hell, and he sings through his nose. The "nasal is a style" thing was astoundingly stupid, and he looked like an opportunistic puke bringing up the Va Tech shooting.
7. Sanjaya -- that may have been his worst performance, which is saying something. He may be primed to go, because now he looks like he's just trying to float through without making any effort at all, and that could screw up whatever legit support he has.

For what it's worth -- and it hasn't been very accurate this season -- DialIdol.com finally has Sanjaya in dead last.

Sangina was comically bad tonight. Was it just me or did he look like a nappy-headed ho?

Last thing, and maybe this is picking nits, but am I the only one who doesn't think "Something to Talk About" is a country song? I've always associated Bonnie Raitt with blues, not country. Not that it mattered.

Based off tonight:

1. Jordin
2. Melinda
3. Phil
4. Blake
5. LaKisha
6. Chris

Is anyone going to start an American Idol pool? To pick the final three?

You are hereby suspended from the NIAFL for two weeks.

Ahh hell who are we kidding? we wouldn't be able to notice anyway!!!! :D :D :D

Phil was great IMO and Melinda should be in the final three, maybe even the American Idol.

My thoughts exactly. Then again, they seem rather loose with the rules. I mean, two "Latin" songs last week were Santana songs, yes, but they were sung by Matchbox 20's Rob Thomas (white) and The Product G&B (black).

What it should be ...
1. Jordin
2. Melinda
3. LaKisha

What it could be ...
1. Jordin
2. Melinda
3. Blake (I could see him making the final 3 -- who are the teenage girls going to vote for once Sanjaya is axed?)

What I hope to hell it won't be ...
1. LaKisha
2. Melinda
3. Sanjaya

He said he has friends at Virginia Tech, yet you bust on him for sending his condolences? Stay classy.

Final three:
Jordin ... Melinda ... Blake.

I think LaKisha will be in the bottom three this week. What a horrible song choice, but I haven't liked her picks for weeks. And gold boots, yeesh. My grandma wants them back.

I agree with your comments on each contestant.
Every week I dislike Melinda's song but think she sang it well.
Chris may have done himself in with his shoutout to VT (which came off as poorly timed and forced) and how snippy he was with his comment to Simon about being nasal.
Jordin should win this thing. Melinda might have the best pure voice, but Jordin is more of a performer and, I believe, more marketable.
Plus, I've always said she is so cute. Just wait until she gets with a trainer and matures a little bit.
I'm certain the bottom three is Chris, Phil and LaKisha or Sanjaya. Sanjaya, of course, should go home, but I'd be happy to see any of those four leave.
I predict it's Chris.

I don't see LaKisha in the bottom three, but I hope to hell Sanjaya is there with Phil and Blake for butchering Tim McGraw's song.

I thought Chris' screwed up the Rascal Flatts tune also, but I don't think he was being opportunistic for bringing up Virgina Tech. If he has friends there, he has friends there. He'll probably be in the bottom three instead of Blake, even though Chris is the only good looking guy left, IMO.

I think Chris is gone tonight and I hope Jordin wins it all. I like LaKisha and Melinda, a lot, but I think they both have bigger careers on Broadway than on radio at this point.

Agree 100%. That's my order exactly.

I think Jordin might be the Idol. She's got the looks, the voice, the star power... You look at her and think of Mariah or Whitney (hopefully minus the hangups)...

*** Did everybody vote?? *** :)

I voted heavily for everybody but Sanjaya. I gave a lot of votes to Phil and Chris because I'm thinking they're the two with the biggest chances of getting cut, therefore proping them up helps Sanjaya lose, right?

First of all, how was it opportunistic for Chris to say his thoughts are with people at VT? The kid's from Virginia, I think he's college age (can't remember) and that was the only time he really had available to talk. It's not like he had an interview first, then sucked, and then decided to try to save it. He had like 10 seconds to say anything he wanted to say. I thought it was very heartfelt, and he looked really struck by it. The cynicism of some of you people makes me want to vomit.

Now, I know Chris sings nasally. I don't necessarily like it. But you guys HAVE heard the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, right? Who sounds nearly identical to Chris with a nasally twang thing? Just checking.

Secondly, God did Blake suck. Suck suck suck. It was flat and weird and gross. No thanks.

1. Jordin (easily)
2. Melinda (everything else is a huge dropoff)
3. Phil
4. LaKisha
5. Chris
6. Blake
7. Sanjaya

Yeah, Chris looked like he was going to cry, I didn't take it as opportunistic.

I thought Blake was more in tune than LaKisha-- woo-- she was off. I cut Blake a lot of slack. Country isn't his thing and this was really his only 'down' week so far, if it can even be called that.

Oh, I'm not saying he's the second-worst singer in this competition by FAR. I was just saying I thought this performance, he beat out only Sanjaya.

I want to watch the show at your house. I'm betting you shout at the TV.

I laughed outloud at that.

And for those who never got to watch Sanjayjay's train wreck...
