Because I ain't doing it, and debated it when I was at the store this morning.

Just wanted to see whether anyone in the congregation felt the same.

Only if you answer the door and give them a lecture about the evils of candy and tooth decay.

Or if you give them healthy **** instead of candy. That'd be a sure-fire way to get your house egged.

Halloween is a holiday that promotes withcraft and celebrates pagan worship. It should be banned.

Crap. How much does it cost to buy two bags of bite-size 3 Musketeers?

Just buy the candy.

If you don't want your house to be egged or teepeed, then I suggest you buy the candy. But if you live in an apartment, you have nothing to worry about.

No.

Any kiddos coming to my house are going to waste their walk up the driveway.

There were almost no trick-or-treaters in 2001 just after 9/11 and I guess the anthrax stuff. I was tempted not to buy any candy for 2002. Then I envisioned myself as an old man standing on my front porch, waving my cane and screaming, "Get off my lawn, ya little bastards!" I bought the candy.

Just turn off all your lights and go out that night. I don't have any probs with someone who doesn't give out Halloween candy.

Actually, Frank, as with most neighborhoods around me, they do trick-or-treat from 6-8PM.
I can set my watch by my neighbor and his wife faithfully pulling out of their driveway at 5:55 and returning at 8:05.

Just be careful not to put out any small fires on your porch by stamping them out, especially with waffle-soled shoes.

OK, I've been guilt-tripped by SportsJournalists.com into buying candy for the little rugrats. Thank you, this will go a long way toward my salvation.

We never get it right. We bought about four bags of stuff one year and had about six kids. Bought one bag the next and had about 600. I was scrambling all over the kitchen for stuff. Kethcup packs, sugar cubes, salt packets, toothpicks, Cup A Soup, Ramen, you name it.

When the kids were of trick-or-treat age, she'd take them out and I'd man the door. Big dogs barking didn't deter many candy seeking kids.

I bought candy last year and no one showed. The weather was awful. This year the weather is again expected to be awful and I'd be surprised if anyone shows.
But even if the weather was good, kids still may not come by. A murder, then suicide happened in the house a couple of years ago and I think the neighbors with kids stay clear.

Nothing wrong with not giving candy, really. Just keep the porch light off and kids walk right by to the next house.

I'd say about 25 percent of the houses on my block don't give out candy.

For not buying candy, no. You are not an asshole.

Ther are so many more reasons than that, but not candy. So sleep well knowing that. :D
