Strutting around with the "Something MUST have happened, because it was a party with strippers and rich athletes!!!!!" crowd throws in with those who assume that "hey, she's a stripper . . .she must sleep around!!" Both are leaps in logic.

Dudes had a party. There were strippers there. There was alcohol there. These facts do not justify being accused of rape and having one's name sullied in such a pointed, lasting way. In this case, dudes had lawyers that rich mommy and daddy were able to get, and they had overzealous prosecutor as well. But while their party would not be confused with a classy event, it also was likely not the type of affair that should have brought up any legal proceedings other than those regarding underage drinking and general rowdiness.

Even if their mommy and daddy were not rich, they hired the best lawyers and poured whatever they had into defending their kids.

Point of clarification if you will, not all students at Duke come from rich families. My uncle was accepted to Duke and my grandparents had six other kids in the house and grandpa worked a blue-collar job in a foundry. Two of his brothers helped move him to Durham and he stayed there for all four years, working two jobs, making a few bucks giving blood, and taking care of himself until the day he graduated. He only got to come home twice during his four years there. The folks didn't have enough money to bring him home. He toughed it out and graduated in the top third of his class.

Now, tell me if he qualifies as a rich kid.

Also, it was nice to see 60 Minutes do a couple of sports stories (well, the Imus one in an indirect way) that aren't just an excuse for an athlete to promote his or her latest book/shoe line/album.
