I can't remember if this is something I read and/or if there were any legs to it and will defer to @Michael_ Gee on the matter. But I thought the long-term plan, pre-Henry group, was for the Red Sox to get a new pahhhk somewhere in the city, after which Fenway would be turned into luxury apartments. This feels somehow like they're trying to do that without, you know, razing Fenway Park. Henry & Co. long ago pissed away all the goodwill and benefit of the doubt they built up, which is a remarkable feat.

Then Henry bought the team and somebody realized an iconic 100-year-old ballpark was a huge asset that could be monetized with a bit of modernization and there hasn't been much serious chatter about in 20+ years.

Yeah, looong time ago, back when John Harrington was stepping on rakes on a daily basis. What a complete imbecile. It seems insane now to consider razing Fenway, but this the late '90s and everyone wanted their Camden Yards. The Red Sox were neither losers nor anything resembling lovable, so the idea of knocking down Fenway, while unpopular, didn't seem as sacrilegous as knocking down Wrigley. It's sort of incredible the people who built Camden Yards were the ones who figured out a way to keep Fenway Park.

You're both roughly right. There was talk of a new park by the waterfront, in an area which is now wholly developed for offices, shopping, restaurants, hotels, etc. Someone (OK, me) pointed out that the prevailing winds there meant there wouldn't be a fly ball that reached the warning track until Memorial Day. It was Larry Lucchino who convinced his partners that Fenway was their franchise's true star and cash cow. They've done a good job both upgrading it and maximizing Fenway's revenues. But this new office building idea is pissing in the sink. It'll both degrade Fenway's charm, and from the point of local opposition, remove badly needed parking for the neighborhood, which is anything but run down.

Kjerstad is one of those guys Hyde was jerking around, playing him situationally, not really giving him a chance to settle in. See: Mayo, Coby. His defense still needs some work, but it's good to see the bat going. Today's game fits right into the happy hour slot for me, so I can actually watch. 9:40 EDT starts are tough when you wake up at 6 for work.

Kjersted was one of their many elite prospects that came up around the same time. He wasn't hyped quite as much as some of the others, but he's not that anonymous.

Things are looking considerably brighter in Baltimore this week. 8-2 run, and the starting pitching has been remarkably stellar.

Certainly not what they would love to see as the five names there, but hey, they're geting the job done.

Rutschman is starting to have a clue again; same with Kjerstad and even Mayo. Westburg will be back any day, and that is big.

They need Gunnar Henderson to take some superstar turns now. He should be the straw stirring the drink, not Ryan O'Hearn.

At the current pace, a team will need 86 wins to nab the second wild card.

Orioles will need to go 62-40 the rest of the way to get there. That's a .608 winning percentage. It's doable. Not easy, but doable. Keep picking off series and avoid the long skids.

I get a little frustrated with Henderson. Maybe my expectations are too high. But damn, some columnists are still suggesting he's a borderline All-Star candidate, and he hasn't had anywhere near that sort of season so far. And that's the thing -- this guy is the type of talent who should be a no-brainer, annual All-Star. So I feel like he's underachieving on a whole.

I might go as far as to say that Henderson could borrow a bit of the heat Rutschman has been receiving. Although Adley has deserved criticism.
