How about Nail Yakupov?
LMAO! That's a couple of lifetimes ago! Yakupov had a cup of coffee in St. Louis and I remember posting here something along the lines of a pairing of him with Ken Hitchcock was a timebomb ready to explode.

Every year I somehow forget that going from regular season to playoff hockey is like going from a AA battery to a nuclear plant. Even this Pens-Rangers game I’m watching just to kill time has my eyes bugging out.

I don’t understand how bumping an attacker off his skates into the goalie is goaltender interference

Nashville wasn't prepared for Game 1 at all. Down 5-0 before they even find their way on to a 2-digit cable channel.
But on the bright side they didn’t trade Forsberg at the deadline, which means being left with jack crap when he walks this summer.

Since we're talking about the announcers. ... I know this is going to come off as me doing my best Phil Mushnick. But the Carolina-Boston crew annoyed the hell out of me last night. Sean McDonough brings as much to a hockey game as a guy reading names from the phone book in a montone would. But what really had me yelling "shut up" at the TV was Emily Kaplan (I just looked to find out her name) at ice level screaming uninsightful commentary on an endless loop. Just terrible and because of her decibel level you can't just tune her out. I switched over to the Toronto-Tampa game earlier than I was going to at one point because of her.

You haven't heard the local crew, have you?

Geno Malkin has your winner early in the 3rd OT.

This Calgary/Dallas series is going to look great even if it's boring and in the middle of the night. Two great sets of uniforms.

Well, that was brutal.

Very worrisome, how the Rangers played after the way they came out in the first period. Poor Igor. 79 saves, he kept them in the game even to get them to OT. And then that.

Not just saying this as a fan, I thought the Chytil goal should have counted. Kakko was pushed into DeSmith. When you watch the replay, he was trying to turn to his left rather than keep going into the goalie, he turned his skates that way, but Brian Dumoulin pushed him from behind, right in the numbers. I really thought it was a pretty bad call, especially because they overruled the call on the ice, but nothing you can do about it. It shouldn't have come down to that anyhow.

Oh well. Game 2 Thursday.

Unreal third period from the Caps last night. Panthers were 39-0-1 when holding the lead after 40. VV let in one bad goal but was otherwise pretty good. Bob was elite for much of the night but the Caps found a way to crack him when it counted. The game needs to be in the 3-2 range for Washington to have a chance in this series, the Caps' defense did a good job of mucking things up and keeping the Panthers from playing wide-open hockey. Psyched for Game 2 Thursday. Hope Wilson is OK.

I'm taking credit. Was watching on the TV and then switched to the radio broadcast for the third while I was doing some work.

Watched at the bar with other Caps fans so of course I have to go back to the same spot Thursday.

Emily is doing double duty
Canes-Bruins and Rangers-Penguins
Caley Chelios, Chris’ daughter, is on Leafs-Lightning
