Well, you'd prefer to not see a back-to-back 2002 third-round British Open.

Guessing the green jackets give him a break and have him go early Thursday/late Friday to get as much rest as possible between the first two rounds..

But I also hope CBS doesn't make it a circus. As they assuredly will.

Of course they will but they'll only get Tiger on the ESPN broadcast on Thursday or Friday, not both. And if he's far back, he won't get a lot of live TV coverage because the broadcast has limited viewing hours.

It won't matter how far back he is. If he's playing, ESPN will tailor its coverage to ensure maximum Tiger. It's what the people want. (Not me so much, but the masses at large.)

Somebody probably has this answer readily available: Is there a golfer waiting around for Tiger's decision. And this guy will be in or out depending on what Tiger decides? And he is going to make a "game-time decision."

Bryson talking Phil and himself. Which is always kind of fun. The man has beaten up his own body trying to swing as fast as possible.

DeChambeau's had no luck connecting with Phil

DeChambeau, though, arrives at Augusta National with bigger concerns than the absence of Mickelson, who last year became the oldest major winner in history by winning the PGA Championship at age 50. On Monday, DeChambeau detailed the full extent of his injuries and that he had returned to competitive golf against the advice of his doctors.

"They recommended that I don't come back for a while," he said.

The wear-and-tear that comes with trying to gain distance, which DeChambeau has done since remaking his body and his game since 2019, took its toll. He said he was recovering from hairline fracture of the hamate bone in his left hand and a minor labrum tear in his left hip.

"One of the things I didn't do is take care of my hands and my hip like I should have, and I went pretty hard," DeChambeau said.

It’s surprising why anyone still questions, or hems and haws, about Tiger Woods getting tons of coverage. He’s ratings gold and cash money. Sure, the other guys try just as hard.

Add in that 14 months ago he could’ve lost a leg, it’ll be ramped up even more. And it frankly should be.

He could struggle mightily. The coverage will still be warranted. Not quite Ben Hogan but in the conversation.
