Rory v. Reed is stuff of legend; I'm honored I got to witness that; the exchange after 8 was tremendous, loved the sportsmanship after the exchange of whispers.
Garcia v. Phil was also spectacular. Freakin' 10 birdies and Phil gets a 1/2 point? Unbelievable, huge props to Sergio.

As for Westwood, I give him big credit for playing well today after yesterday's meltdown.

You can say the backend of the Euros was weak but they looked pretty good at times, and it took Brooks/Sneds/DJ/Moore/Holmes/Kuchar to wake up, those were not givens.

Yes I'm probably more energetic because the USA won, but those were some fantastic matches today. Thanks to the golfers on both sides.

I urge you all to look up the golf course near Versailles that will be the site of the 2018 Cup. It is vast (they're talking 65,000 spectators a day), very hard, and has a finish of three straight holes with long water carries. It's built for drama. By 2018, some of those young English Euros will have more wins under their belts. And there will probably be a number of new faces on the US team, too, the peers of Koepka, Spieth, etc. Will they be playing for Captain Phil?

If you take the position that it's more fun when the Americans lose, you still need the occasional American win to make it an "event" I think.

I think you can draw a direct line from Phil ripping Watson to how they finally got to yesterday. If he doesn't do that, the PGA of America isn't forced to change, and just keeps doing dumb ****.

Oh, totally agree. The U.S. had to win this one. Now, go figure, they have to go lose the next Presidents Cup to keep that competition relevant. Almost 20 years since the Intl's last won.

The problem with the Presidents Cup is that the International team is always like this year's Euro team. Five or six very tough outs and the rest just aren't at the top level of the game, either because they're still a little young or because they play on the weaker Asian circuit most of the time. If Day, Scott and Schwartzel could play four matches a day it might be competitive.
