Treatment of the media tends to matter more to members of the media.

I say that but am a pretty staunch counterexample. I wouldn't trade a single Alabama football win under Nick Saban for a more congenial attitude toward the reporters covering him. But I also think the media's sense of entitlement is ridiculous. We'd bury a coach for any misdoing, so why shouldn't they be hostile toward us?

Badger is a bit funny posting how to treat reporters. He's the top-notch radio guy who was above having some door attendant check to see if he had a credential.

Do you keep a database of members and all their posts that rankled you?

Duke would have to convince something like 15-20 good recruits to come play in the worst stadium in major college football and go to a school like Duke to even be in the discussion for the ACC title. Miami has to convince one or two great hoops recruits they should live in South Florida for a while.

And those 15-20 need to meet the academic standards of Duke, not The U.

Yeah, let's pretend Duke is playing by higher standards than the rest of the ACC. And that Miami isn't a first tier private research university. Let's pretend.

Admissions at a university will give a coach a certain number of "chips" or "credits" where they will look the other way for a student's admissions. Some coaches might get three or four per class in football, some might get 15 or 20, some might get 60. Does not matter how prestigious the university is, it's how loose the admissions department is.

And the depth of what the admission department will let slide by depends on the university, but the amount of "chips" also is a factor.

They way I understand it, the university allows a certain percentage of "special admissions" in each class and the basketball program essentially gets first choice.
