Something that caused me to laugh out loud last night at work:

The game is winding down. Buck and McCarver are searching for ways to show how long it's been since 1954.

A graphic pops on the screen, and Buck does his duty and reads how in 1954, "there were no teams west of the Mississippi."

Uh ... I can think of one, Joe. Your father was the announcer for them!

You would be very hard-pressed to find anyone from the St. Louis area that considers the city to be "west" of the Mississippi. It is, for all intents and purposes, on the river.

Now Kansas City, THAT is west of the Mississippi. But the A's didn't move until after the season.

I think it was with the Giants but Youngblood started a game with the Expos which was suspended, then was traded to the Giants (?) and played for them when the game was resumed.

As a tyke, I actually remember seeing both of those games on TV. My dad was home from work and watching the Cubs-Mets game on WGN in the afternoon, then we watched Phillies-Expos on regional cable that night. I remember dad pointing it out and the announcers making a big deal of it.
