No one seems to be inspired by Bellerive as the site for the final summer PGA Championship.

Would think Justin Thomas has a fine chance to repeat.

I don't think Tiger contends. He looks a little tired, as was noted on the golf thread.

Sneaky play this week: Joaquin Niemann at anywhere from 60-1 to 80-1.

I love what the PGA of America does to their courses...…..Nothing.
Here it is. Go get it.
If you shoot 262 or 282. Congratulations.

Brilliant idea to have the PGA in St. Louis during August. Rumor has it they were looking at hosting it at a course on the sun but the course was seen talking with the USGA.
It's not going to be nearly as bad as Tulsa in 2007, when the temps were 105 all week (not heat index ... temperatures). Southern Hills is a sauna when it's 80 when you go below the hill where 1 and 10 tee and 9 and 18 green is, and it was the most oppressive, hottest I've ever felt in my life. The running joke in the media center was that if John Daly didn't die, anyone could walk the course. He made the cut and tied for 32nd.

Mark Brooks has more PGA Championship wins than Tom Watson and Arnold Palmer combined.

Webb Simpson, Lucas Glover, Geoff Ogilvy and Michaeal Campbell (US Open) say hi.
Danny Willet, Trevor Immelman, and Charl Schwartzel (Masters) say hi.
Stewart Cink, Todd Hamilton, and Ben Curtis (The Open) say hi.

Jean Van De Velde wishes he could say hi.

Was thinking about next year and the years to come. Mid-May is too early for championship golf at championship level courses in New England and I'll bet the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest, too. Dicey in the NYC area. West Coast is pretty far from the other Tour stops at that time (Texas). My guess is we'll see a lot of Kiawah, Quail Hollow and Valhalla.

2019: Bethpage Black
2020: Harding Park in San Fran
2021: Kiawah
2022: Trump National in Bedminster
2023: Oak Hill
2024: Valhalla
2027: Aroniminik
2028: Olympic Club
2029: Baltusrol
TBD: Southern Hills ('25 or '26)

Bethpage will be one hell of a guinea pig. Last time a Major was held there they were overwhelmed with rain. Now they're moving the event to May, a time when the Northeast historically sees even more rain.

Oak Hill's a wonderful course, but Rochester in mid-May has a nonzero chance there will be unmelted snow under some of its trees.

The PGA of America owns Valhalla, so pencil it in for one PGA per decade from now 'til forever.

When does the acting PGA president or whoever have their pre-tournament press conference to discuss the direction of the organization? Pete Bevacqua took a parachute out from the CEO job for a big chair at NBC Sports Group, and there's plenty of fallout still from Paul Levy's DUI -- which fortunately for the PGA was overshadowed in the mainstream media because that news came out right around when Mickelson was playing hockey on the 13th at Shinnecock.

Delighed to see there's no Whistling Straits or Quail Hollow on there.
This was the year to put it at Cherry Hills in Denver.

Hard to go against JT or Dustin Johnson. But the PGA? Who knows.

I'll go with Fleetwood this week, just for giggles.

Can't see Woods making a run. Tired or not, he can't hit enough fairways right now.
