It only takes a few people to pull off a lie- and the rest to believe it.
I don't argue with fanboys so the conversation is respectfully ended.

Wasn't the Rays' story that they told him about the clause and tried to sign him?

Tough to prove tampering after that

    Renteria fired:

No announcement yet on Maddon, but I assume it's imminent.

Right after the blue-ribbon committe releases its report on the A's move to San Jose.

Rays considering tampering charges, per TB Times:

Maybe they can demand a prospect for Maddon. I'd ask for Kris Bryant.

This has not been handled deftly, but then it is Epstein at the controls.
Renteria has been shit down his throat for managing up a terrible team.

How can tampering be proved unless the Cubs sent Maddon an email in August or something Cubsian like that? He took a clause in his contract and exercised it, then went to another team.

Yeah, I didn't follow his departure from the Rays real close but that was my understanding too. He had an opt-out clause in his contract and he exercised it. Tough shit, Tampa.

Can't see it. No way Epstein knew anything before it actually came down, unless Maddon or the agent contacted them. Happened way too fast, and Maddon allegedly didn't know the clause even existed until the team reminded him. How did the agent not realize something that he most likely to negotiated?

The Cubs arranged for Andrew Friedman to go to The Dodgers so that it would
    trigger the Madden clause.

Looks like the Rays have gotten back to being the Rays with lightning speed.
