The Rays are doing their due diligence by making tampering noise. Any other team would do it in their place, too. But it won't come to anything.

If the Rays could prove that Maddon talked to the Cubs before exercising his opt-out, then sure, but they can't.

Yeah, just making noise. Don't blame them. Can't see any way anything could be proven even if it did happen.

Winning a WS with the Cubs is by far the biggest thing that anyone could achieve in American ball sports. it is a big market and they did not win for more than 100 years there is nothing that even comes close (2004 for similar for Boston but probably still not quite).

That is probably a big motivation for Maddon. Of course winning any WS is a huge thing for him that has not won one but Chicago is that little extra task. After half a decade of tanking and salary dumping more than the Marlins the Cubs now are in a good position and it is a good time for Maddon to get there now.

Maddon's intro presser was held at the Cubbie Bear bar due to the ongoing renovations at Wrigley. He closed by saying the next round for everyone in attendance was on him.

    He really IS a genius.

Yeah but it took him 38 years to finish college. That even more that Senator Blutarsky.

Just a cool dude who gets it. It's been done before but his focus on the shift has altered baseball strategies.

The Hazelton way now is more needle and spoon.
