Stole this idea from a thread that was recently on a music board I frequent.
You're given your own DJ spot at a music station that will let you play whatever you want.
What's the first song you play? and why?

My choice was a tribute to all the great DJs that came before me --
"Around the Dial" - The Kinks

One of the two greatest songs ever recorded. Toss up.

Loan Me A Dime, Boz Scaggs
Since I've Been Loving You, Zeppelin

First SONG, Slappy. Singular.

I'll wait until someone corrects my Bitter Young Friend...

You didn't specify what kind of radio show. No question ... Christa Ludwig singing "Urlicht" from Mahler's Second Symphony. It's one of the main reasons that music exists.

Wait. Here's someone to correct him -- Don Pesola.

"Queen of the Forest" by Ted Nugent.

And then I yell "Booger!"

You win the $5,000 prize....

Or, for those who only see it in reruns:
Generic Muzak that kinda-sorta sounds like classic rock
"Boooooooooger"

I'm a radio nerd, but I've never thought about what my first song would be. Then again, if I programmed my own music, it would be stoner rock, so none of my audience would remember :).

"Eyes of the World," Grateful Dead.

Great thread. Mine?

"Everybody Knows," Leonard Cohen.

(What? A little too "Pump Up the Volume"?)
