... acts like strip-club employees.

JONESBORO, Ga. -- A high school dance team at Jonesboro High School has been disbanded.

The move announced Tuesday comes after parents complained about a provocative dance routine that was performed by the 8-member group at a Jan. 13 basketball game.

Jacqueline Evans, a school district spokeswoman, said the squad will not be allowed to perform or represent the school for the remainder of the school year.

A video showing the dance, titled "The Sluts of Jonesboro," had also been posted on YouTube, but has since been removed from the web site.

Friend sent me this link, which has a video embedded. Frankly, I didn't think there was anything wrong at first. My mind started changing around the 2:00 mark.

There was way too much screaming in that video. You can't even hear the music.

A few thoughts ...
1. That's unbelievably tame by today's standards.
2. They need to fire the choreographer.
3. None of those girls would have made the cut at my high school.
4. Keep the sound turned low. You can hear screaming and chatter but no music.

Yeah, that was pretty bad.

Nothing like pretending you're giving head or having a guy sit in a chair while you dance up on them.

Is that what that was supposed to be? Really, really bad routine. I didn't find it offensive in the least, aside from the fact they named it "The Sluts of Jonesboro."

Squatting down and bobbing their heads over the guys' crotches isn't bad? I mean, it is high school and it is during a basketball game.

Seemed a tad inappropriate to me.

Maybe they were just trying to get Tyra elected class president!

I thought they were just dancing - didn't get that it was supposed to be mock BJ's. Oh well, I guess I'm not hip to the kids anymore.

Where were the teachers?

And what's wrong with girls learning a trade, for gosh sakes?

The SportsJournalists.com Gustapo won't let us say blowjobs anymore?

They owe me six minutes of my life.

(Well, okay 2 minutes and 13 seconds. I turned it off after that.)

Yup.

So, we shouldn't judge Jessica Simpson because of her looks, but it is OK for high school girls to dance like this, wearing spandex and pretending to turn sexual favors on guys?

It's OK to have a gym full of people cheering them on?

What's that teaching those high school girls?

That doesn't add up.

As long as you don't call them fat or chubby, I think you're good.

'Gola: I'm with you on this. For high school kids, this is wholly inappropriate.

Exactly... Cant tell if they are with the music or not...

and it reminded me of this...

"Can we keep them from spankin their ass for two minutes!?....."

Well, they should be disbanded for sucking, but not the kind of sucking you're thinking of. OK, fine, they should be disbanded for that too. If they're doing what you say they're doing, that's not really kosher outside of a strip club.

I still remember 9th grade, my first year in high school. First-ever varsity pep rally...out comes the dance team...though back then they were known as the drill team (heh). I was shocked, shocked at the ensuing gyrations to the tune of J. Geils' "Flamethrower." After I got home that afternoon, I wanked like a zoo monkey while visions of crotches and bottoms danced in my head. And this was at a Catholic school!

There was much discussion about the routine the following day. The nuns were not amused. The monks didn't seem to mind. The crusty old priest who taught Latin offered no comment. The drill team endured the controversy, though I didn't notice quite as much crotch and ass display the rest of that school year.

Overall, I considered it a positive contribution to my personal development. Instead of lazily spankin' it to the swimsuit pages of the Lands' End catalog, I was using my imagination.
