GBNF's thread and Fen's post within it inspired this thread.

Rules: If you name Revolution #9, you must name something else. Everyone knows Revolution #9 is a piece of ****, it's too easy.

Go ahead and expound on worst album, though if you pick Yellow Submarine, you have to pick another, same thing as Revolution #9. No Anthology albums allowed, only stuff recorded when they were active.

Pick your worst John/Paul/George/Ringo song, pick the worst on each album ... whatever.

My picks?

Song? Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite ... total dreck.
Album? Yellow Submarine + Sgt. Pepper's (I admit I haven't listened to With The Beatles, and looking at the track list, it would likely beat out Sgt. Pepper's)

I'm not a big fan of "Girl" off of Rubber Soul... mostly because of the domestic violence implications in it

Not a big fan of Piggies.
All My Loving is an underrated song, not right for this thread but just thought of it.

Getting Better -- hands down. Perhaps one of the worst songs ever. Well, worst song lyrics, as it's so catchy.

Here's the lyrics that are so awful:

"I used to be cruel to my woman
I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved
Man I was mean but I'm changing my scene
And I'm doing the best that I can"

Hey, I used to beat my wife, but I don't anymore!!

Let It Be is easily the ****tiest album.

Piggies sucks musically but the lyrics are funny.

I'll vote "Wild Honey Pie" worst song, though there are many.

Never been a fan of And Your Bird Can Sing.

Paperback Writer doesn't get the love it should.

"All My Loving" is probably the best song from the moptop era.

One strange cultural footnote- the freaky German industrial band Leibach covered "Let It Be" in its entirety just because they thought it was the worst Beatles album. Their version is some fascistic, frightening-sounding ****...complete with the "cookie monster" vocals often heard in speedmetal.

Best Rutles song?

Can't go with the obvious "Hold My Hand, Yeah, Yeah." :)

The "If I Fell" send-up, "A Girl Like You" is actually a good song.

Also notable, Rutle-wise, are the hilarious "Doubleback Alley" ("Penny Lane") and "Another Day" (not really modeled on a specific song, but sounds like McCartney's stuff from The White Album).

Random "Penny Lane" footnote..."fish and finger pie" is Liverpudlian slang for feelin' up your sweetie.

"Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite" and "Within You Without You"

The background chorus of "tit tit tit tit" is pretty amusing, though.

I think you actually may be thinking more of "Run For Your Life," ("I'd rather see you dead, little girl, than to be with another man,") which Lennon said in his later interviews he "absolutely hated."

Worst Beatles songs?

"I'm Happy Just to Dance With You," "Mr. Moonlight," "Old Brown Shoe."

There are some pretty bad songs on the early albums, but of the stuff after they got truly great (starting with the Rubber Soul/Revolver era), I'll say Girl, Wild Honeypie, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite and The Ballad of John and Yoko.
None of those are original choices, I know.
BTW, second that Paperback Writer is incredibly under-rated.

Next time you want to wish someone a birthday, don't go with the obvious Beatles song "Birthday". Go with this one instead

'Wild Honey Pie' is a great song, and so is 'Within You, Without You.'
'Ballad of John and Yoko' is also great.

'Girl' is alright, but there aren't any domestic violence references. I think you're thinking of another song, perhaps 'Run for Your Life'?

You're deaf.
Wild Honey Pie is annoying, as is the way they say "gggiiiirrrllll (breathing)" in Girl.
The Ballad of John and Yoko is simply not a good song. Not sure why.
I like Within You, Without You, though I see why some wouldn't (that sitar can be overbearing).
