Woman charged with castrating man
LILLINGTON -- Police charged a woman with malicious castration after she allegedly attacked a man at a Christmas party.
Rebecca Arnold, 34, was taken to the Harnett County jail and released Wednesday afternoon on $50,000 bail.
Kevin Russ, 38, was treated at the Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital emergency room Tuesday and released, according to hospital officials.
It all started Monday night at a Christmas party at the home of Tanya Nicole “Niki†Gardella, 32, said Lillington Police Chief Frank Powers. Russ is Gardella’s boyfriend, and Arnold is a friend, he said.
The party on Summerville Mamers Road in north Lillington continued into the early morning hours of Dec. 26. The three were heavily intoxicated and got into a fight, Powers said.
At some point, Arnold allegedly grabbed Russ’s genitals with her hands.
Powers said he has received conflicting accounts from witnesses.
Lillington police were called to the residence for a domestic disturbance, and Officer R.D. Bass responded, he said.
He found a disturbing, bloody scene.
“(Russ) was in pretty bad shape,†Powers said
