Title IX requires a seperate but equal thread.

The NFL has a month devoted to Breast Cancer Awareness and lots of pink clothing and other splendid ways of helping fight breast cancer.

Should the WNBA reciprocate in some fashion? Perhap they should wear Blue, to raise awareness of Blue Balls? A tragic malady suffered by many men

The Oklahoma City Thunder writers are horrible about this.

Although the other day, I actually saw a story that said, "The Kansas City Royal's ...".

Although the other day, I actually saw a story that said, "The Kansas City Royal's ...".

It sounds goofier to say, "The Heat are..." than "The Heat is..."

By your logic on second reference you would say "Stanford took their their first lead of the day ... "

Of course not. Stanford is a singular institution in either case. Technically, "Heat is" would be grammatically correct. Though some papers' styles treat it as a plural team, as my paper does and as mentioned in the initial mention of it on this thread. The competing paper does the opposite. It's frustrating, but that's what the bosses say.

In the case of the Thunder, "is" is the Oklahoman's actual style. Which I hate too.
