Which state has the worst drivers?

The thread about Virginia's new heavy-handed fines for bad drivers got me to wondering: Which state has the worst drivers? So I made this poll. But I'm lazy, so I didn't include all 50 states and frankly, there's only one right answer anyway.

Driving in Illinois, or in a state bordering Illinois, is taking your life in your hands. Blatant traffic law violations abound. Cops ignore all but the worst because the state's jails and court system are over-burdened. And besides, when six people zip through a light after it turns red at 20 over the speed limit, beer cans flying out the window, one cop can only nab one violator anyway, right?

If driver quality is any marker of a state's collective intelligence, Illinois rode the short bus to the union.

I lived in Indiana, right on the border with your beloved Illinois, for about 5 years. I still think Texas drivers are worse.

Rusty, I've lived where you lived ... in the same county, anyway ... but no region has worse drivers than the South. It's not even close.

Anecdotally, I'd say Boston area. But I'd guess florida would end up taking the cake in an objective survey.

I don't know about the rest of Illinois, but Chicago drivers are 10x worse than New York City. I live in Chicago and used to live in NYC. They are terrible, and I don't mean to make it racial thing, but it's mostly the minorities. I think I can get away with saying that cause I'm Hispanic. But seriously, most of the times I've been cut off or something similar it's when I'm driving on the West and South Sides of the city. Never fails, though I've run into some idiots on the North Side and the burbs.

And very little drivers here, regardless of race, pay much attention to bikers. They drive in bike lanes, open up passenger side doors in bike way, don't recognize the right of way for bikers, etc. It's a disaster.

Texas gets my vote.

Ohio's are worse, esp. in the Southern half of the state. Yowzers!

Texas drivers are awful.
I've never seen so many people run blatant red lights, pull out in front of you on highways when you are going 65 or drag racing in populated areas.
My sister said Kansas City drivers are pretty terrible as well.
