Which Network will get the Olympics?

IOC liked Fox's presentation, according to reports. It's bidding for two and four Games, but prefers four Games. I bet you can get all four for $5 billion to $5.25 billion.

As much as I bash NBC, I'd cringe thinking of the crew Fox would bring to the table. Chris Meyers in the Costas/Jim McKay role? Joe Buck doing track or swimming? Terry Bradshaw doing gymnastics? Gus Johnson would have to do weightlifting - AND IT'S UP!!!! OH MY GOD!!!! Darrell Waltrip on bicycling - BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY!
I could see Murdoch doing it - just to do it, but Fox doesn't need it.


ESPN has more people that would be less annoying - Saunders or Musberger (you are looking LIVE at Copacabana Beach!) would be decent as the host, figure Chris Fowler could do pretty much anything, Tirico, Dan Schulman, Scott Van Pelt, Nessler...

I was at the Pan Am Games in 2007 down in Rio. Overcast, gloomy, drizzle, temps in the upper 50s/low 60s throughout. And it was dark by 4:30 or 5 p.m.

Definitely didn't feel like a "summer" games, at all.

Translation: Comcast won the Olympic rights, and if they run out of NBC channels, they'll just add some more.

Eager to hear how much each one bid. After Comcast/NBC lost out on the recent college football biddings, it probably threw everything including the kitchen sink to keep the Olympics.

I don't know if FOX or ESPN would have been better, but I was ready to see someone else give it a try.

Maybe Comcast will be different. Ebersol is out.

Based on his participation in the Maccabiah Games, I would bet Brian Roberts has a reverence for the Olympics. I hope it shows.

It would be nice if they showed some stuff live to all time zones and get out of the 1970s approach to sports television.

They should be able to do both and have been able to do both for 20 years now, with the prime-time programs appealing to totally different audiences.
