A standard-issue piece on the local malls banning unescorted teens on weekends. But the reporter failed to realize when his chain was being yanked at the end of the story.

C.J. Bragg disagrees. He said the mall keeps him away from bad habits.

"The mall has kept me from doing drugs," said Bragg, a 15-year-old Columbia High student. He, too, doesn't approve of the new policy.

"I could either be at the mall, or I could be at some stoner's party getting baked."

His friends giggled, but that didn't stop Bragg.

"In short, the mall saved my life," he said. "I could have overdosed on something by now."

I wish the 20-something college athletes I cover could have an ounce of personality in their quotes.

Good stuff.
